Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 23, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Nicolas Spehler ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects personal information in connection with the Analog mobile application (the "App"). By using the App, you agree to the practices described below.

1. Information we collect

We limit data collection to what is necessary to operate the App. We collect:

  • Account information you provide when you connect your Discogs account to the App, including your Discogs username and the access credentials issued to the App by Discogs.
  • Library and listening information generated as you use the App, including the records in your collection, your play history, and the playlists you create.
  • Audio fingerprints generated on your device when you ask the App to identify a record that is playing. Raw audio is not transmitted or stored.
  • Purchase information related to in-app subscriptions — such as the products you purchase and your trial and subscription status — processed by Apple, who handles payment, and shared with our subscription-management provider as described in Section 3. We do not receive your payment details.
  • Technical information required to authenticate App requests to our services and to prevent abuse, including an anonymous identifier issued by Apple.
  • Live Activity update data generated while a Live Activity (the persistent card iOS shows on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island during a listening session) is in progress, including the temporary push token Apple issues for that activity and the display content (title, artist, cover) of the next record we expect to surface when the current side finishes. This information is sent to our backend only for the duration of the activity, used solely to deliver scheduled updates to that activity through Apple's push notification service, and never used for advertising or shared with other third parties.

We do not collect your name, email address, postal address, phone number, contacts, location, advertising identifiers, or browsing activity outside the App.

2. How we use information

We use the information described above only to:

  • Provide the App's core functionality, including reading your music collection, generating playlist recommendations, and identifying records that are playing;
  • Sync your playlists and listening history across your own devices through your private iCloud account;
  • Operate and secure our services, including authenticating requests and enforcing usage limits; and
  • Comply with applicable legal obligations.

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or to make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you.

3. How information is shared

We do not sell or rent personal information. Information is disclosed only as follows:

  • Discogs. When you connect your Discogs account to the App, the App communicates with Discogs on your behalf using the credentials you provide, in order to read your collection and related metadata. Discogs's handling of your data is governed by its Privacy Policy.
  • Anthropic. To generate playlist recommendations, the App sends impersonal information about your music library — such as record, artist, and track titles — to Anthropic, PBC through our authenticated backend. We do not transmit identifiers that link the request to you personally. Anthropic's handling of that data is governed by its Privacy Policy.
  • Apple. The App relies on Apple services to identify records (via on-device matching), process subscription purchases, sync data across your devices through your private iCloud account, and deliver scheduled updates to in-progress Live Activities through Apple's push notification service. We do not have access to data stored in your iCloud account or to your purchase details.
  • RevenueCat. We use RevenueCat, Inc. to manage and analyse in-app subscriptions. When you start a trial or purchase a subscription, transaction information from the App Store — such as the product purchased, your trial and subscription status, and purchase and renewal dates — together with your device and app version and an anonymous identifier generated by RevenueCat, is shared with RevenueCat so we can recognise active subscribers and understand how our subscription offering performs. We do not share your payment details, and RevenueCat does not receive information that identifies you by name. RevenueCat's handling of that data is governed by its Privacy Policy.
  • Legal requirements. We may disclose information where required to comply with valid legal process, to protect our rights, or to prevent fraud or abuse.

4. Data retention

Information stored on your device remains until you remove the App or revoke its access. Information held in your private iCloud account is retained under your control until you delete it. Anonymous service-side data used for authentication and abuse prevention is retained only for as long as necessary for those purposes.

5. Your choices and rights

  • Disconnect Discogs. You may disconnect your Discogs account from within the App at any time. This revokes the App's access to Discogs.
  • Microphone access. You may disable microphone access at any time in your device's system settings.
  • Delete your data. Uninstalling the App removes data stored locally on your device. Data synced to your iCloud account can be removed from your device's iCloud settings.
  • Manage subscriptions. Subscriptions are managed through your Apple ID and can be cancelled at any time in your device's system settings.

Depending on where you live (including the European Union, United Kingdom, and California), you may have additional rights with respect to your personal information, such as the rights to access, correct, port, delete, or restrict its processing, and to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority. To exercise these rights, contact us at the address below. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law.

6. Children's privacy

The App is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

7. International users

The App is operated from the developer's country of residence. If you access the App from another jurisdiction, your information may be processed in countries other than your own, which may have different data-protection rules. By using the App, you consent to such processing.

8. Security

We use industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, and destruction. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated effective date and, where appropriate, by a notice within the App.

10. Contact

For questions about this Privacy Policy or our handling of personal information, please get in touch.
